Le aziende che accedono al programma Microsoft Certified Partner devono impiegare a tempo pieno almeno due Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) e il solo modo per diventare MCP è superare una serie di rigorosi esami, richiesti da Microsoft per ognuna delle diverse aree di certificazione.
I Microsoft Certified Partner hanno inoltre la possibilità di approfondire la loro conoscenza della tecnologia Microsoft in anticipo grazie alle versioni beta e possono partecipare a eventi speciali per conoscere le nuove politiche commerciali relative ai prodotti e servizi Microsoft.
